      This collection provides aid by the Subcommittee on Aid to the Church in Central and Eastern Europe through bishops’ conferences of Central and Eastern Europe and the ex-Soviet Union to meet the needs of rebuilding the Church, It focuses on training seminarians and lay leaders, supporting social service programs, youth ministry, pastoral and catechetical centers, schools, church construction and renovation, and evangelization through Catholic media.

      - Norma Montenegro Flynn, USCCB
      The Diocese of Corpus Christi will observe the occasion with their annual Silver and Golden Anniversary Mass to be celebrated by Bishop Michael Mulvey at the Corpus Christi Cathedral at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14. Bishop Mulvey will honor 75 couples commemorating 25 or 50 years of Sacramental Marriage. A certificate reception and light refreshments in St. Joseph’s Hall will follow the Mass.

      Nearly all of the religious men and women who professed perpetual vows in 2015 had a strong, active parish life or participated in a vocation program or experience prior to entering their religious institute, according to the annual survey on men and women religious conducted by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University. The report comes as the Catholic Church completes the global observance of the Year for Consecrated Life.

      Bishop Michael Mulvey will be one of five speakers on a panel discussing "How the Faith Community is Eliminating Racism" at the10th Annual YWCA Racial Justice Forum on Monday, Jan. 18. Dr. Velda Vela-Trujillo will moderate the event sponsored by Corpus Christi City Employees Credit Union.

      ​Sister Annette Wagner was elected superior general of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament in Corpus Christi and will begin her four-year term after installation on Friday, June 10, 2016. Also elected to the congregation’s leadership team for the term 2016-2020 are Sister Maria Irma Gonzalez, councilor and assistant general, and councilors Sister Colette Brehony, Sister Barbara Netek and Sister Marilyn Grace Springs.

      - Mary Cottingham, South Texas Catholic
      Therese Recinella, Director of Catechesis for the Diocese of Corpus Christi, presented "Praying Scripture with Children" to non-Math teachers from K3-K5 and 1st-5th grade. The sessions encouraged educators to explore their relationship with Jesus through the Gospel and put students not only in touch, but also, in communion (in intimacy) with Jesus Christ. Teachers were encouraged to sing, tell stories, share ideas and create their own reflections and guided meditations for their students.
