Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Please accept my special thanks for
your generous donations to the
Bishop's Annual Appeal over the
past year. Due to the leadership of
our priests, their parish staff
members and volunteers and the
contributions of our donors, we met
our campaign goal. This great achievement enables us
to continue to bring the Lord's healing presence to
thousands of people throughout the Diocese of Corpus
Christi.
Through your prayers and financial contributions, you
have enabled many of our parishes, even our very small
parishes, to have a priest to celebrate the Eucharist and
to help people to realize that Christ walks beside them
as their strength and food for the journey.
With your help, we will be able to focus on our youth and
Catholic education and make available our Catholic
schools and our CCD programs so that more of our
youth can be educated in the Catholic faith. The U. S.
Bishops have said, "The time has come to revisit and
reaffirm our commitment to Catholic schools as
invaluable instruments in proclaiming the Good News
from one generation to the next".
Your contributions last year gave us hope and promise
that the Church will remain a vital force for years to
come. Your generosity enables the diocese to
implement the seven goals of our Diocesan Synod
which are Evangelization, Catechesis, Worship,
Vocations, Youth, Family Life and Stewardship.
The total goal for the 2010 Bishop's Annual Appeal is
$1.78 million. Any amount over this goal will be divided
equally between the Priests' Pension Plan, tuition
assistance for Catholic schools and a fund to construct
a future diocesan retreat center.

appeal, and your brothers and sisters who are helped by this
campaign thank you.
