CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Incarnate Word Academy fifth graders graduated on Tuesday, May 28. Students and their families, along with faculty and staff, celebrated with a Mass at the Convent Chapel of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. A reception was held at the school’s James R. Dougherty Center following Mass. A total of 31 fifth grade students graduated from IWA Elementary Level’s traditional and Montessori programs.

Incarnate Word Academy student Sheridan Steen placed first in the Junior Historical Paper category at the State History Fair held in Austin from May 3-4 for her work titled, “The Annexation of Hawaii.” She will compete at the National History Fair in College Park, Maryland from June 9-13.

Incarnate Word Academy senior Cristian Fernandez has received a full one-year scholarship to study at Texas A&M University-Kingsville beginning this fall semester. The scholarship was donated by A&M-Kingsville.

Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, hosted a Mass with the bishops of Texas for delegations from the various dioceses for the Year of Faith. The Mass took place at Mission San José the evening of April 22.
