The diocese proudly partners with Catholic International University (formerly Catholic Distance University) to provide online continuing education certificate programs and courses that fulfill the CEU requirements for Catholic school teachers and those involved in religious education and ministry. To access these continuing education offerings, visit https://catholiciu.pathlms.com and bookmark the page for easy access. When creating a user account, be sure to enter the diocesan access code: 16CORPUSCHRISTI to receive discounted pricing. Once the access code is associated with your account you will receive the discounted pricing.
If you had an account with us on Canvas, click on the Sign In button and click on Forgot Password to reset your password on the new system, and enter the email address you used for Continuing Education courses on Canvas.
After resetting your password, open your profile, click on Settings, verify the information, and save the profile. Then click on the Access Codes tab and enter your Diocesan Access Code (16CORPUSCHRISTI). This only needs to be done once. The code is saved to your profile, and when you register for a course, the discount is reflected in the price in your cart.
Click on the Sign Up button, which leads to the registration form, and fill out all required fields. The last field on the form is the Diocesan Access Code (16CORPUSCHRISTI), which must be entered if your diocese offers a discount through Catholic International. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the Catholic International Continuing Education Support Team at [email protected].To meet the TCCBED Guidelines updated in the 2014-2015 Academic Year, PreK-8 Teachers of Religion must fulfill the following requirements: “150 clock hours of undergraduate level coursework appropriately distributed among courses in Catholic doctrine, Sacred Scripture, morality/social justice, and sacraments/liturgy…(consisting of ) online, non-credit courses offered by an accredited Catholic University.” A religion teacher for grades 3K or 4K must have an associate degree in early childhood education (or its equivalent), a Montessori Certificate, or a valid, appropriate state certificate with the above requirement.
TCCBED Certification must be completed within 3 years. The Diocese of Corpus Christi has gone into partnership with Catholic International University and selected a series of independent study courses that fulfill this requirement. The selected schedule of courses fulfills this requirement.
Upon completion of the 150 hours and additional requirements*, Catholic school teachers have fulfilled the TCCBED requirement and the Commissioning requirement for the Diocese of Corpus Christi. They are ready to be officially commissioned as a Catholic School teacher of religion by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
Expiration and Renewal:
Renewal: TCCBED Certification is good for 5 years only. 20 hours of continuing education credit are required annually after certification is achieved. Renewal hours may be done through Catholic International. Hours include workshops and conferences of a religious nature sponsored by a Catholic institution. Coursework through Catholic International Independent Study Courses, Seminars, and Specialization Certificate Courses fulfill this requirement for Renewal.
Certification through the Diocese of Corpus Christi for Catholic School Elementary Teachers of Religion:
Upon completion of the 150 hours and additional requirements*, Catholic school teachers have fulfilled the TCCBED requirement and the certification requirement for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
