Blessed John Paul II high school names Evans as athletic director

Blessed John Paul II High School announced the appointment of Justen J. Evans to the position of athletic director effective with the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. For the last three years, Evans has been with Santa Gertrudis Academy High School in Kingsville.

He will take the place of Steve Castillo who has served as John Paul II’s athletic director since the school opened in 2006.

Evans currently is the Lions offensive coordinator for football, head track coach, assistant basketball coach and a criminal justice and physical education teacher. Prior to his time with San Getrudis, Evans coached and taught at Taft High School for four years and was a Corpus Christi police officer before that for two years.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Evans to the Blessed John Paul II High School family,” Principal Perry LeGrange said.

Evans received his undergraduate studies at American Intercontinental University and is pursing graduate work in education administration.
