St. John Paul II High School Challenge Team won the Texas Quiz Bowl-Sparkling City Challenge II held on Sept. 26 at Flour Bluff High School. The Sparkling City Challenge II was open to all teams from South Texas, specifically to schools located in the Corpus Christi, Brownsville and Laredo areas.
Members of the winning team include Jacob Zamarron, Amy Ayala, Jacob Juarez, Nicholas Kimmel, Brandon Deeb and Alex Kimmel. Jane Elia Longoria is their coach.
The Centurions competed against Carroll, Flour Bluff, London, King, Sinton and San Diego with a total winning score of 3,015. The team is now eligible to compete at the 2016 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament to be held in Dallas the weekend of May 28, 2016.
