More than 60 of our disabled brothers and sisters are enjoying fun, prayer and praise and worship at Father Walsh's Annual Summer Camp, which began on June 28 and will end June 29. The event is being held at St. Joseph Hall on Our Lady of Corpus Christi Campus.
The summer camp is presented every year by the office of Catholic Charities' Ministry and Life Enrichment for the Disabled and volunteers who want to provide campers an opportunity for spiritual growth, social interaction and "lots of fun."
This year the theme is "A Radical Ride on the Wings of Prayer" where Jesus is the pilot and "we are His copilots," director Celia Mendez said. The campers will dance, be in a parade, see a magic and clown show and show off their prowess at a talent show.
Volunteers and contributors include the Alhambras and Sultanas, the Altar and Rosary Society from St. Peter, Prince of the Apostle Church, the Tejas Management Systems, Inc., fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Corpus Christi Adult Day Care Center and others.
Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody came out to enjoy the fun, along with Father John Chavarria from St. Pius X and seminarian Ramiro Regalado, Jr.
