Sacred Heart School in Rockport held its annual Science Fair on Oct. 12–13 in the school library. The annual Science Fair is held to help students understand the scientific method and how scientists prove or disprove theories.
Students have been studying the scientific method and were given the opportunity to consider a problem they wanted to solve, determine a method to solve it, formulate a guess as to the outcome and follow through by proving or disproving the hypothesis.
Student participants from kindergarten through fifth grade were judged by their use of the scientific method, their procedures, observations, display detailing their project and their oral interview by the judges.
Second grade winners included Tie Isabella Garza and Thomas Jaggard (1st), Jocelyn Salas (2nd), Tricia Boehm (3rd) and Avery Blanchard (4th).
Third grade winners included Izzadora Niedzwiecki (1st), Amelia Rendon (2nd), Levi Duplaga (3rd), Khalila Moussamir nd Thomas Waggoner (5th).
Fourth grade winners are Roman Mayes and Thomas Ortiz (tied for 1st), Christian Janosky (2nd), Tatiana Jaggard, Ava Loraditch, and Kadance Sledge (tied for 3rd), Addison Kopp (4th) and Jacqueline Crabb (5th).
Fifth grade winners were Laehla Rendon(1st), Mackenzie Childs (2nd), Kaydence Wells (3rd), Kadynce Samora (4th), and Carson Bhakta (5th).
Other winners were: Kinder: Stella Waggoner (1st); First grade Luke Picarazzi (1st) and Dylan Garza (2nd).
