Vex Robotics team at St. John Paul II has qualified to go to the state level competition. The team members are Christian McAllister, Maya Trevino, Noah Dimas, Dylan Garza (not in photo), and Bridget Lee Sang.
St. John Paul II robotics team "Screwged" competed and won in the Nothing But Net VEX Robotics Competition against other middle and high school students from Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi on Dec. 5.
The Nothing But Net VEX Robotics Competition is one in a series of tournaments supported by the REC Foundation and various national, regional and local sponsors.
The competition season culminates each spring, with the top performing teams from local and state VEX Robotics Competitions compete against each other at VEX Worlds. At VEX Worlds, these exemplarily teams will have the opportunity to challenge their top-ranked peers from over 30 countries around the world, including Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
The non-stop, action-packed day included sixteen competitors who elevated their robots in a designated climbing zone.
The St. JPII team which consisted of students Christian McAllister, Maya Trevino, Noah Dimas, Dylan Garza and Bridget Lee-Sang will be headed to the state competition Feb. 27, 2016 in League City, Texas.
