Throughout the centuries, Eucharistic miracles have taken place all over the world. Blessed Carlo Acutis, an English-born Italian Catholic, gained attention for documenting stories about these Eucharistic miracles and assembling them on a website he created. He also utilized various social media platforms to share the stories of miracles he documented.
The Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibition recently brought this young man’s deep devotion to the Eucharist to the Diocese of Corpus Christi. His work was displayed at St. Joseph Church in Beeville on Aug. 9.
A presentation preceding the exhibit was given by Sister Adelina Garcia, a sister with the congregation of the Pax Christi Institute.
“We were invited to bring the Blessed Carlo Acutis Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles to St. Joseph’s,” Sister Adelina said. “We were inspired by the recent Eucharistic Congress to present the story of a saint connected to the Eucharist, and Blessed Carlo’s devotion to Jesus is very compelling.”
Blessed Carlo Acutis was officially beatified on Oct. 10, 2020, and is only one step away from canonization. He was only 15 when he lost his battle with leukemia. Still, he used the internet to share his love of the Eucharist during his short life by researching and presenting stories of over 100 Vatican-approved Eucharistic miracles. His work has not only won him a growing following of young people, but it has also brought him the distinction of being the patron saint of the internet because of his unique way of evangelizing countless web users.
“I believe he is a true model for our youth,” adds Sister Adelina. “He was so inspiring and did so much with the short time God gave him.”
