The Office of Catholic Schools hosted a Professional Development Day for teachers in the Diocese of Corpus Christi on Aug. 9 at St. John Paul High School. Guest speaker Dr. Richard Grant, a licensed psychologist who specializes in Myers-Briggs consulting and training, challenged Catholic school teachers to learn about themselves and each other’s personality types.
Teachers were tasked to answer a series of questions about themselves, teachers then learn their personality types and share them with other teachers at their table. i.e., introvert or extrovert.
Through self-discovery and sharing with their opposite personality types, teachers learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses. And can collaborate with each other’s opposite to reach more students, especially those with opposite personality types.
Overall, teachers felt it was a great tool to learn about themselves and how to become more effective teachers.
At the end of the day, diocesan and parochial schools in the Diocese of Corpus Christi each received STEM Lego Kits assembled for their various grade levels thanks to a grant written by Dr. Rosemary Henry, superintendent of Catholic Schools.
