The diocese welcomes Katia Uriarte, the newest Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
Katia comes to us after being a News Anchor for 18 years here in the Coastal Bend. She’s worked for both ABC and NBC locally. Before making Corpus Christi her home, she worked as a producer and reporter at the CBS affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi, and at the FOX affiliate in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Her eagerness to be part of our Diocese is evident when you talk with her. She’s a newly-confirmed Catholic. She was confirmed in 2020 at St. Patrick’s Church. In 2021, her son Daniel also received First Communion at St. Patrick’s. Her husband, Johnny, is a lifelong catholic. They are a family rooted in Christ.
“I cannot wait to meet each and every one of you. My goal is to help you in any way possible to share the Good News of our Lord, Jesus Christ with our community and to communicate internally as well as externally with parishioners and beyond” says Katia.
Among the many goals, we look forward to achieving with Katia and the Diocesan Communications team include growing our presence as a Catholic community on social media, sharing the great stories of our Catholic community with the Coastal Bend, actively engaging our more than 300,000 parishioners, clergy men and women by building a robust database. We want to be able to reach you, share information with you, and grow closer as a community in Christ.
Jesse De Leon, who has extensive radio and TV production experience, joins the Diocesan team as Assistant Director of Communications and Public Relations. We welcome Jesse, who most recently worked on-air as a radio personality and producer at KLUX 89.5 and worked at KIII-TV 3 in the production department before that.
We are also happy to announce Julie Stark joins the Stewardship and Development team within the Dioceses of Corpus Christi under the leadership of Lisa McKelvey, Director of Stewardship and Development. Julie has led the Diocesan Communications team through the implementation of a new diocesan website, new branding for the diocese as well as the implementation of a Communications Policy and Identity Standards manual, and an updated social media strategy. Julie will be completing her Master of Biblical Theology next August 2023.
We are delighted to welcome all our new team members and pray God blesses our new ventures.
