Some 500 people attended the Clergy and Religious Appreciation Banquet held at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center on Oct. 30. Presented by the Knights of Columbus and the Bishop’s Guild, the event featured Father Leo Patalinghug, STL in the keynote address.
On Dec. 2, the Cathedral Concert Series will present "Christmas with the Von Trapps" and the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra conducted by Lee Gwozdz. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral.

More than half of the 1960 eighth grade graduates of Christ the King School attended their 54th class reunion on Saturday, Oct. 4. They all praised the importance of Catholic education in their lives and pledged financial support to their alma mater.
JoAnn Castro smiled with great fondness when she recalled what a special year 2004 was for her family. Castro, librarian and financial record keeper at St. Gertrude School in Kingsville for the past nine years, said 2004 was the year all six of her children were enrolled at the school, all at the same time.
Sacred Heart Parish in Falfurrias wrapped up its centennial celebrations in October marking the parish's 100-years of serving the local Catholic community. Bishop Michael Mulvey celebrated Mass with parishioners, followed by a lunch banquet in the parish hall on Sept. 21. The last big celebration was held on Oct. 25, an alumni reunion dinner of Sacred Heart's Catholic school, which closed in 1965.

Incarnate Word Academy united with the rest of the nation to raise awareness and encourage others to take an active role in the bullying prevention movement. The entire IWA campus recognized Oct. 20-24 as Bullying Prevention Awareness Week.

Corpus Christi Court 246 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas celebrated their Centennial Jubilee on Sunday, Oct. 26, with Bishop Mulvey celebrating a special Mass. The Catholic Daughters held a reception at St. Joseph’s Hall after the Mass.
Students at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy don red shirts and form a red ribbon in honor of Red Ribbon Week, celebrated from Oct. 27-31. Catholic school students participate in activities that will educate them on the benefits of staying drug free. To kick off the festivities, students from OLPH gathered for a school wide photo on Oct. 27. All students wore red to coincide with the theme: Love Yourself Be Drug Free!
