We have continued to look for the missing young man, Julio, with no success. His father calls Eddie Canales every day to check about the search. The second place that we looked was under a roadway bridge. It was evident that persons had been there at one point because of the rusted out food cans and a very trampled and weather-beaten cell phone.

Bishop Michael Mulvey has asked all parishes in the Diocese of Corpus Christi to take up a special collection to provide humanitarian relief and pastoral support for Christians in the Middle East that are under attack for practicing their faith. The collection will be taken up at all Masses on the weekend of Sept. 6-7.
Bishop Michael Mulvey told students returning for the new school year that they should focus on preparing themselves to be leaders who will serve others. He said that they should concentrate on service not on self-gratifying notions of accumulating wealth and material goods.
