Nieves Frazier, a teacher at St. John Paul II was selected to attend the STEM Teacher Summer Externship from July 16-27. She was one of fifteen teachers selected to attend the Texas Teacher Externship for STEM Education. Frazier teaches Government, Economics and World Geography. She is Student Council Sponsor and Destination Imagination Team Manager.
Over one-hundred women throughout the Diocese of Corpus Christi attended the fourth annual conference, entitled, “Women: Heart of the Church.” The event, hosted by the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) Court #2433, commenced with Mass at St. Theresa Church on April 28.

Bishop Michael Mulvey by the imposition of hands and the invocation of the Holy Spirit will ordain three young men to the sacred order of the diaconate on June 2 at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Cathedral. Seminarians Richard Gutierrez and Ramiro “RJ” Regalado, Jr. will become transitional deacons and campus minister Santos Ruben Jones III will be ordained to the permanent diaconate. The young men have faithfully been serving the church for many years.

Parishioners from Our Lady of Perpetual Help participated in Harvey Clean Up Saturday on May 12 and May 19. Two groups of 12 people (some children) spent several hours working on clean up tasks at the direction of Rockport and Port Aransas Volunteer Centers.

Two teams of St. Patrick elementary students placed in the Elementary Odds and Ends Division at Beach to Bay on May 19. Team one placed second averaging 8.54 minute per mile and team two came in seventeenth place out of 48 teams, averaging 10.31 minute per mile.

Fifth-grade students from Ss. Cyril and Methodius School used Chromebooks and Google Slides for a final book project, The Magician's Nephew, on May 18. Going through each chapter of the book, students analyzed key points, analyzed quotes, added pictures, slide themes and transitions to make slideshows.

incarnate Word Academy’s varsity track and field teams competed at the TAPPS 5A State Meet from May 4-5 at Midway High School in Waco. Overall, the IWA boys’ team placed 15th while the girls’ team placed 16th. A school record was earned by senior Evangelino Pangilinan in the boys’ shot put event with a total of 43-feet.
