Most Precious Blood students participated in prayer services in honor of National Catholic Schools Week. The events conducted by Principal Nelda Bazan began the day before with an M & M prayer service led by the Student Council.

Students at St. Anthony in Robstown had a busy day performing, singing, acting and playing on Jan. 29 as part of their National Catholic Schools Week Celebrations.

During National Catholic Schools Week (NCSW), Our Lady of Perpetual Help middle school students conducted a STREAM Fair Demonstration for the elementary students on Jan. 29. The younger students were able to learn and manipulate many of the projects presented. Some of the hands-on STREAM projects included demonstrations such as mini-spheres, drones, robotics and scientific experiments.

“We are teaching students to become future servant leaders, faith-filled disciples and enriched citizens in our communities, but we as educators, parents, students, and parish communities are growing with them,” said Bryan Krnavek, St. Pius X School Principal, kicking-off National Catholic Schools Week with a parade and pep rally on Jan. 28.

On Jan. 29 students at Sacred Heart School in Rockport competed in a Spelling Bee as part of National Catholic Schools' Week.

Eight religious’ sisters in the Diocese of Corpus Christi will be recognized at a special Mass on World Day for Consecrated Life at Corpus Christi Cathedral on Feb. 3. Those being honored for their years of service will renew their commitment to serve the Lord and his people.

St. John Paul II High School band, cheer and drill teams kicked off National Catholic Schools Week (NCSW) by joining St. Pius X in their annual NCSW morning parade on Jan. 28 at St. Pius Drive.

On Jan. 28 St. Gertrude School celebrated National Catholic Schools Week with the theme of "Community Leaders - You Are Our Super Heroes.”

Bishop Garriga Middle Preparatory School held a Family Picnic and Twin Day on Jan. 28, commencing National Catholic Schools Week for the students. The picnic-style setting offered something for everyone.

A Religion Bowl launched National Catholic Schools Week (NCSW) at Sacred Heart School in Rockport on Jan. 28. The event held on Jan. 28 was conducted by Father Ray Yrlas and Principal Kathy Barnes.

The St. John Paul II Centurions beat the Moody Trojans by 260 points at the KEDT Challenge XIV on Dec. 27. The 24 area schools begin the contest until one wins the “Challenge Cup.”

Sofie Perkins, from the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas (KJZT) presented a check to the diocesan superintendent of schools, Dr. Rosemary Henry on Jan. 15 for the 17 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Corpus Christi.

Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level hosted the first rounds of its Amazing Angel Shake Competition on Jan. 19 in the school’s James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center and High School Level Library Media Resource Center. This year’s Amazing Angel Shake Competition is sponsored by Hicks Automotive Group.

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) President Emerita Sister Elizabeth Anne Sueltenfuss, a Sister of the Congregation of Divine Providence, was inducted into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame on Jan. 17 in Austin, Texas.

Incarnate Word Academy Elementary Level students welcomed representatives from Republic Services to discuss the importance of proper recycling on Jan. 11 in the school’s James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center.

The Annual Stewardship Appeal is upon us once again. The 2019 Appeal will take place on the weekend of February 9-10. The Diocese of Corpus Christi asks for your support and cooperation in making this another successful year. In January, Bishop Michael Mulvey will be hosting Stewardship Receptions from 6-9 p.m. The following deaneries have been chosen: 

Children from St. Marys Mission Robstown Religious Education Program celebrated Jesus' birth by participating in a Christmas Pageant on Dec. 24. "The children were immersed in scripture through their learned lines and Christmas songs," Cecilia Gamboa said.
