St Elizabeth School in Alice is partnering with the Coastal Bend Blood Center to serve the community in a life-giving way. To maintain an adequate blood supply to help the people of the Coastal Bend, the Blood Center needs more than 150 registered blood donors each day.

Second graders from Sacred Heart School in Rockport make the Honor Roll for the first time. Students Anthony Danna, Kara Spangler, Paige Fulton, Karsyn Ford, Ayla Rey, Isabella Picarazzi, Tyler Parkoff, Kylie Spangler and Aubrey Ybarra were called up to the altar to receive a certificate for their accomplishment after Friday Mass on March 25.

Corpus Christi Cathedral parishioner and lifelong Catholic Arthur “Artie” Barnes received a Citizens Certificate of Merit for “exceptional heroics” from Chief Markle of the Corpus Christi Police Department on March 24.

We’re here to celebrate the Holy Eucharist, which is the fruit of the Annunciation of the Lord,” said Bishop Michael Mulvey during his March 25 homily of the Solemnity of the Annunciation and his 12th Anniversary of Episcopal Ordination as the eighth bishop of Corpus Christi. “Mary’s response to Gabriel was not a casual ‘yes.’ It was not a ‘yes’ to a friend, but it was a yes, a fiat to God, to be faithful to God, to be obedient to him, to be obedient to His Church.”

Most Reverend Wm. Michael Mulvey, Bishop of Corpus Christi presided over an act of consecration of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation. Joining him in solidarity were Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody, priests, religious and lay faithful from all the Diocese of Corpus Christi. 

The Diocese of Corpus Christi announced that the upcoming June 16–25 Eucharistic Congress, will bring together the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States and other distinguished guests, Catholics from around the 12-county diocese as well as visitors and speakers from other parts of Texas and the country.

Tuesday, March 22, is the observance of the American Diabetes Association Diabetes Alert Day. Diabetes Alert Day is a one-day “wake-up call” focused on the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of understanding your risk. CHRISTUS Spohn Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center is using this day to urge the Coastal Bend community to learn more about diabetes prevention and management. 

For the first time, individuals felt they could talk openly about their faith journeys and share how to grow together as a synodal Church (a Church that journeys together in communion, participation and mission.) Thirty-seven people attended the Synodal Encounter session at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Parish on March 19.

The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops expressed gratitude for all who are responding to wildfires in the state, and prayers for those affected by the disaster.

This month Catholic schools across the Diocese of Corpus Christi partnered with their local police department, inviting their participation in school safety drills. 

Diocesan seminarian Javier Bertowski was installed as an Acolyte on March 19 by His Excellency Bishop Adam J. Parker, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, thus deepening his devotion to the mystery of the Eucharist in preparation for the priesthood.

El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica afirma: “Al abrazar en Su corazón humano el amor del Padre por la humanidad, hace que Jesús les ame hasta el extremo”, porque “nadie tiene mayor amor que aquel que entrega su vida por sus amigos”.
