Bishop Michael Mulvey celebrated the Easter Vigil at Corpus Christi Cathedral on April 16. The Service of Light began outside at sunset with the blessing of a new fire. The Paschal Candle for the year was blessed, prepared and lit with the new fire. As the Paschal Candle was being processed inside the darkened church, small candles held by parishioners were lit, producing a brighter light. This “Light of Christ” began to spread throughout the cathedral.

The annual collection through the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) supports dioceses and eparchies in the United States and its territories that are unable to sustain basic ministries without outside financial help.
A plenary indulgence is a grace granted by the Catholic Church through the merits of Jesus Christ, Mary and all the saints to remove the temporal punishment due to sin.
Sister Mary Lucy, (Mercedes Cuvin) was called to eternal life on April 8 at the age of 91. She entered religious life as a Missionary Sister of the Holy Spirit, the active branch of the religious congregation for Sisters founded by the Founder, St. Arnold Janssen, SVD. As a Holy Spirit Missionary Sister, she taught chemistry in different colleges in the Philippines.
Sister Mary Ann Korczynski, Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament of Corpus Christi, was welcomed into eternal life by her loving God on Wednesday, April 6. She taught at St. Patrick School and Incarnate Word Academy High School in Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word Academy and Villa Maria High School in Brownsville.
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) has been presented with a relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis by Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino of the Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino in Italy.
