In the first video of his Lenten video retreat titled ‘Growing in Grace: Lenten Reflections With Bishop Mulvey’, Bishop Mulvey walks with us to better understand fasting and put into practice. Fasting must begin he says “with knowing ourselves better.”

In early 1973, 23 men gathered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish to establish the Knights of Columbus Council. These grandfathers, fathers, neighbors, and friends came to be known as San Patricio Council #6413 and welcomed men from other parishes to join them.

Bishop Michael Mulvey celebrated the Silver and Gold Anniversary Mass on Feb. 12 at Corpus Christi Cathedral. Additionally, three couples have been married for 60 years, and one took their vows 65 years ago.

Father Simon Brzozowski, a priest with the Missionaries of the Holy Family (MSF), passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at Padua Place in San Antonio.  He was 99 years old.

The Diocese of Corpus Christi celebrated World Day of Consecrated Life with Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael Mulvey at Corpus Christi Cathedral on Feb. 5. During the Mass, those in consecrated life renewed their commitment, and jubilarians celebrating anniversaries ranging in length from 25-75 years were acknowledged with gratitude.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Incarnate Word Academy welcomed current and prospective parents and families to visit the IWA campus during the Angel Expo and Student Showcase on Feb. 1 in the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium (High School Gym). 

During National Catholic Schools Week (NCSW), students, teachers and staff from Bishop Garriga Middle Preparatory School (BGMPS) honored their national heritage by inviting a Native American to share with the students about her culture.

To provide immediate relief to the families that suffered catastrophic loss due to the earthquake that shook Turkey and Syria Monday morning, The Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States has opened the Earthquake Aid for Turkey and Syria Fund.

Each year, on Feb. 8, the Catholic Church around the world marks the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking.

First-year students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Newman Center, Nya Hernandez and Therese Armstrong, together with sophomore, Isabela Esquivel, boarded the bus from St. John Paul II High School to join 40 youth, young adults and the SOLT sisters, heading to Austin for the Texas Rally for Life on Jan. 28. They had decided to participate after seeing the diocesan Instagram post about it.

Pilgrims from the Diocese of Corpus Christi marched from Colorado Street to the South Steps of the Texas State Capitol in Austin. They gathered with individuals from dioceses across the state of Texas to listen to pro-Life speakers, Governor Greg Abbott, Claire Culwell, Ryan Bomberger and others who spoke at the rally. They came in solidarity to give witness that Texas respects all life.

Bishop Michael Mulvey hired Misty Smith as the new Chief Financial Officer for the Diocese of Corpus Christi effective Feb. 1.

To celebrate 100 Days of School on Jan. 28, students from Our Lady of Perpetual Help spent part of the cloudy and cold Saturday morning in service to the community. 

Mrs. Liz Collis, director and cook of the cafeteria at Sacred Heart School in Rockport, received a letter from the Texas Department of Agriculture congratulating her on her success in the 2022 Farm Fresh Challenge of her National School Lunch and Breakfast Program (NSLP). 

Ss. Cyril and Methodius School elementary students paired with early childhood students and read to them on Jan. 31.
